Background

To celebrate a major milestone, SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital wanted a campaign that honored its deep roots in the Jefferson City community while reflecting its modern, forward-thinking mission. The goal was to create a sense of legacy, pride, and connection among patients, staff, and community members.

Creative Concept

The central theme of the campaign was:
“Your health, our tradition. 120 years and counting.”

To bring that message to life, we developed a visual identity that honored SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital’s legacy while speaking to its continued commitment to compassionate care. I provided creative direction for the “120 years” icon, collaborating with another designer on its development. I then led the design for all supporting campaign elements.

A layered photo collage of archival imagery created a powerful backdrop—connecting moments from the hospital’s early days to its modern presence. I applied clean typographic treatments, angled graphic accents, and a consistent color system to unify the campaign and reinforce the sense of motion and progress. The design emphasized both heritage and innovation, reflecting a tradition that’s still growing.

Execution

  • Print Ads ran in local publications, emphasizing the hospital’s historical role in the community while highlighting its continued innovation.

  • Pull-Up Banner was used at community events and hospital entrances, creating a touchpoint for staff and visitors.

  • Outdoor Banner was installed on-site, providing high visibility and acting as a visual anchor for the anniversary year.

  • Digital Screensaver/Board Graphics were displayed throughout the hospital and on internal communication platforms.

Impact

The campaign created a unifying moment for staff and the community alike. It celebrated SSM Health’s Catholic heritage, medical excellence, and ongoing mission of compassionate care. The visuals not only honored the past—they inspired forward momentum.

Reflection

Designing for a milestone like this meant more than just making something look good—it was about creating something that felt meaningful. As both a designer and someone who supports healthcare work, I found this campaign personally rewarding.
